Intro to Painting: Oil & Acrylic (Beg/In) - Ages 15 to adult
Time: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Location: Walnut Creek Civic Arts, Shadelands Annex B, 111 Wiget Ln, W.C. Instructor: Bob Chapla Primary focus will be on quickly blocking paintings in with special emphasis on dramatic lighting, expressive color combinations and textural variation. Each class will begin with a review of drawing skills and short demo. Students encouraged to bring a painting to near completion during class time. Last portion of class will involve a group critique of work done. All painting styles and subject matter are acceptable. All levels welcome. Lessons primarily involve still life and landscape. Do you need to determine your style and help in improving your art pieces’ final look? Do you need to paint in a supportive atmosphere and share ideas? Emphasis on working in a studio atmosphere on any subject matter--still life, landscape, figure, portraiture--or medium or technique, realistic to abstract. Group critiquing work with a primary goal to help you focus on developing a dynamic, mature and consistent style. Framing methods, readying for an exhibit, digital camera use discussed.
